This piece celebrates the beauty and power that lives in my roots. I covered the face with flowers, cotton and black corn because these are symbols that carry the stories of my culture. They are not decorations – they are identity, ancestry and pride growing out of the skin.


The golden tones represent how I see her: strong, radiant and unbreakable. The phrase “GOLD SKIN – FIERCE SOUL” is a reminder that our value doesn’t come from the outside world. It comes from the history written in our blood and our spirit.
